What exactly is a "Therapeutic Community" (TC)?
A Therapeutic Community is a globally recognised, evidence-based recovery model where the community itself is the primary tool for healing. As Romania’s first authorised TC, Social MED provides a structured, supportive environment where residents work together to rebuild character, responsibility, and social skills. This model is proven to have higher success rates for long-term sobriety compared to traditional isolated treatments.
What types of addictions do you treat?
We provide comprehensive residential care for a wide range of addictions, including:

What is the typical duration of the programme?
Our standard premium programme is 4 weeks (28 days). This timeframe is scientifically designed to allow for a safe medical detox followed by intensive therapeutic work. Depending on individual needs and clinical progress, extensions are available for those seeking a more profound transformation.

Will I be under medical supervision during detox?
Absolutely. Safety is our foundation. Being located in the medical hub of Târgu Mureș, we provide 24/7 clinical oversight led by senior psychiatrists and specialised nurses. Our medical detox protocols follow the highest European safety standards to ensure your withdrawal process is as comfortable and safe as possible.
I’m flying from London. How do I get to the centre?
We make the journey seamless. Most clients fly from London (Luton or Stansted) directly to Targu Mures or Cluj-Napoca. A Social MED representative will meet you at the gate for a complimentary VIP transfer in a private vehicle. From the moment you land in Transylvania, you are in our care.
Do I need a special visa or medical insurance?
For UK citizens, a standard passport is sufficient for entry into Romania. While we are a private clinic, we recommend having basic travel insurance. Our administrative team can provide all necessary documentation if you wish to claim costs through private health insurance providers that cover treatment abroad.
